Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia Flyers Stadium)

The Wells Fargo Center is a multifunction arena located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is home to the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.  The arena opened in 1996 and received several upgrades 10 years later, including a new center-hung scoreboard similar to other scoreboards in new NBA and NHL arenas. An additional linear LED display lining the entire arena was also installed between the suite and mezzanine levels. Other renovations for the arena included upgrading the suites with more flat screen HDTVs.

The NHL expanded in 1967, adding the Flyers and five other teams.  The Flyers have won two Stanley Cups, in the back-to-back seasons of 1973-74 and 1974-75.  They were the first team not of the original six of the NHL to win a title. The Flyers have always played their home games on Broad Street, leading to their nickname, originally coined in the 1970s, the “Broad Street Bullies.”
