T-Mobile Arena (Vegas Golden Knights Stadium)

Opened in April of 2006 after two years of construction costing $375 million, T-Mobile Arena, located in Paradise, Nevada, is home to the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights are the NHL’s latest expansion team, beginning play in the 2017-18 season.  The Knights are the only professional team to call T-Mobile Arena home, however, the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels Men’s Basketball team has played in the arena several times since its opening.  The arena also hosts combat sports and bull riding competitions, as well as concerts.

The Golden Knights were the first major sports franchise to represent Las Vegas, and have now been followed by the NFL’s Raiders, who moved to Las Vegas from Oakland.  The Golden Knights have been a great example of how successful an expansion franchise can be, making the playoffs in all of their first four seasons and competing for the Stanley Cup in the finals against the Washington Capitals in 2018.  Bill Foley, one of the team owners and catalysts for Las Vegas getting a team, had a hand in choosing the name, as he is a graduate from the United States Military Academy whose team is the Black Knights.

How many seats are in T-Mobile Arena

T-Mobile Arena holds 17,500 Golden Knights fans and is configured in three non-concentric seating areas, in comparison to how many arenas are laid out.  The lower sections around the ice are numbers 1 through 20, and two upper sections are the 100s and 200s, with the former being smaller and at one end of the arena while the latter is much larger, higher and surrounds the other two-thirds of the venue.  T-Mobile Arena capacity is slightly higher for basketball, adding 500 seats, and can hold up to 20,000 for concerts and other events.
