Food at the Xcel Energy Center

The  Xcel Energy Center, located in Saint Paul, Minnesota and locally referred to as, “The X,” opened in September of 2000 and is the home ice of the Minnesota Wild.  The arena, which holds nearly 18,000 fans, has hosted Minnesota Wild home games ever since it opened its doors.  The Minnesota Wild play in the Central Division of the NHL’s Western Conference. The Wild are an expansion team that moved into the vacated spot left by the Minnesota North Stars who moved to Dallas in 1993.  The team has not won a Stanley Cup but has made it to the Conference Finals.  The arena has a great combination of restaurants and stands situated around the main concourse and on the club level.  Hockey fans in the Twin Cities as well as anyone attending special events at the arena are advised to come hungry.

The restaurants and concession stands inside the Xcel Energy Center offer all of the arena favorites hockey fans have come to expect, including hot dogs, burgers, chicken tenders and brats and also have some great specialty items unique to the venue.  Choose from City Burger, Camp Grill, Cabin Classics, Sausage Haus, Red Baron Pizza, and Wild Cantina among many others as you watch your favorite team play at the arena.  Many of the stands address issues with dietary restrictions any visitors may have, so be sure to ask if you have specific requirements. There are also three great restaurants in the arena for you to try if you want to grab a bite before the teams hit the ice.  Minnesota Wild fans that live in the Twin Cities know it’s good to get fueled up before the first puck drop and all the cheering starts!

If you’re at a Minnesota Wild game, locals will tell you there are some  great items to try inside the Xcel Energy Center.  If you are looking for a little taste of Europe and also enjoy finishing off a meal properly with dessert, you’re definitely in luck.  The concessions options at Xcel Energy Center maintain some of the main stays of Minnesota cuisine, such as German sausages and fried cheese curds. Fans coming in with a sweet tooth are in in for a treat as the arena has stands serving malts, cookie dough, mini donuts and gourmet ice cream.

There are great local restaurants and watering holes within a stone’s throw of Xcel Energy Center that are excellent choices for before a Minnesota Wild hockey game.  If you’d like to grab some tasty American fare near the arena, then The Liffey is the spot for you.  More in the mood for a slice?  Try Zamboni’s Pizza.  For a wide variety of choices before a hockey game or concert, try the Eagle Street Grille.
